Somatic Yoga

Somatic yoga focuses on moving from felt sense and I bring together elements of traditional hatha and vinyasa yoga, somatic movement principles, somatic nervous system regulation tools and yoga therapy applications to cultivate a sense of balance, stability, support, fluidity and grounding from inside the body. From here we can explore opening into more expansive, strengthening and energised states that are supported from the ground up and our relationship to earth, self, gravity and space.

Within the framework of yoga, a somatic approach offers an invitation; to move from our own instinctual inner impulses allowing our natural body intelligence to come forwards. This offers our bodies a space to both be met as they are, as well as exploring new movement patterns that offer both deep rest and more movement potential. This approach seeks to nurture inner body resource, aliveness, regeneration and inspiration through the whole body-mind system, is naturally inclusive and can be tapped into from any level of experience. Everyone and everybody is welcome.

“Emily is an intuitive yoga teacher responding to the needs of all in the class, and the elements of life that affect us all, in such a humble and gentle way. I feel seen and heard when I attend her classes and nurtured by the time I have left.
There is always an invitation to be yourself, to just be yourself, within the practice
each session. An invitation to listen and respond to what you need not what any one else may need. This has deepened my appreciation of yoga and what it does for me.”
