I have recently been informed by the venue that places are selling quickly for this retreat and flights are at a very fair price at the moment so to avoid disappointment book soon even though the retreat is in September.

I am really excited to be offering a yoga retreat at this beautiful venue in Taroudant, Morocco who organise and host beautiful retreats all year round. More information is below but booking will be through them so please be in touch with the venue for all booking, venue, flight and logistical enquiries.

  • Please be in touch with me for questions about the yoga and movement practices.

The Venue  Well known for magical meaningful holidays, excellent food and exceptional staff, this award-winning set up is a stunning sustainably-run eco-lodge with a chlorine-free pool and permaculture gardens. Located on the south side of the ancient town walls of Taroudant, which enjoys the best winter climate in Morocco. Our venue has a variety of lovely spaces for yoga including the tiled circle in the gardens, the spacious 64 sq metre activity room and a very large tiled roof terrace, lovely at sunset and sunrise.

The Venue is family friendly and children are welcome so long as you bring someone to look after them whilst you are doing yoga!

The Yoga There will be three daily practices. A short before breakfast practice to greet the day with presence and awareness, which will include foundational embodiment tools, breath awareness practices and yoga sopana. Sopana means ‘staircase’ or ‘ladder’ and comprises practices that warm up and prepare the body for the practice of classical yoga asana.

Explorations in Yoga: before or after lunch – 2.5hr per session  a mindful, therapeutic and somatic approach that Emily has been developing over the course of some years now.  It aims to offer fulfilling, nourishing, freedom inducing, inclusive, self-regulating experiences via a therapeutic, mindful and somatic approach to the practice of yoga. The movement practice is built upon choice, agency, body intelligence and a reconnection to felt sense as a pathway towards embodiment. The form, structure and tradition of yoga offers the framework and a mindful somatic approach offers space to hear ourselves and listen to our bodies from within this form. This can facilitate our ability to inhabit the yoga practice in a way that is accessible to who we are as unique individuals. Space is created to both lift energy and explore a place of empowered doing and rest deeply and explore a place of simply being. Moving through different energetic states has many therapeutic benefits, can support nervous system resilience and offers the chance to explore what we need as unique individuals to cultivate balance in our system. This type of practice has a lot of depth to it but can be tapped into from any level of experience so the beginner and more advanced student can practice easily side by side.

Evening Practices (5 nights): Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Yoga Dance Cacao Ritual After dinner on two of the nights Emily will share a restorative yoga practice. On another two nights she will share the practice of yoga nidra. Both these practices cultivate deep states of rest that are essential for rejuvenation. After dinner on one night there will be a Yoga Dance Cacao Ritual where Emily will lead a movement session to explore how we can move from a place of intuition, instinct and felt sense to express through freeform movement our own authentic creative expression. Cacao will be offered as a drink to support the process of dance, movement, embodied prayer and celebration.

Activities

The rest of the day will be free for your own exploration. There is a gorgeous chlorine free pool, beautiful gardens, library and the town close by. Optional extras also include cookery lesson, massages, on-site solar powered hammam, walking and wildlife in the High Atlas Mountains with Said.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at La Maison Anglaise and cannot think of any way that it could have been improved. From the friendly pick up and welcome to the return journey to the airport, all staff were warm, helpful, efficient and respectful. I loved my room, the gardens, the pool etc. and found myself signing up for more trips and activities than I expected- I’m pleased I did. It was a great way to see Morocco, find out about the culture with very approachable and knowledgeable guides.
